Thanks to my friend John in San Francisco for sending along the link to this wonderful singing dog video.  Wellington the Bassett Hound must have had his heart broken to be singing along so mournfully to Billie Holiday’s“I’ll Be Missing You.”

What kind of boy or girlfriend could break such a cute little Basset Hound’s heart like this?  I think we can all identify with the pain of this little fella’s unrequited love.  It’s a tragedy of canine proportions.

But don’t worry Wellington, time heals all wounds and your beautiful little Bassett Hound heart will once again find true love.  And when it does. . not more singing the blues. . .I’ll want to hear a nice rendition from you of Celine Dion’s The Power of Love!

This is an absolutely heart-wrenching video showing a traumatized Maltese named Edie who was rescued only one hour before being euthanized at a shelter.  Watching this video brought tears to my eyes and an overwhelming ache in my heart.

To see this Maltese so terrified of having a leash put around her neck that she screams and defecates uncontrollably reminds me of my poor dachshund Cleo who has been equally traumatized in times past.  It is not difficult to imagine the hell that dogs like Edie had to endure in order to become so terrified of human contact.  The reactions shown in this video are so alien and counter to a dogs genetic evolution as “man’s best friend.”   It’s truly shocking.

Kudos to all those who rescue and give love to abused and tortured animals.  The most beautiful thing about this video is to see the dramatic turn around that Edie the Maltese makes as she learns that she is not in danger and that these humans are offering love instead of pain.  Edie rolls over and begins to wag her tail and go into play mode.  What a wonderful relieve she must have felt to finally experience the mutually beneficial and loving relationship that has co-evolved over the millennia between human and canine.

I’m sure Edie will have a long road to travel to get over her fear and trauma, as my dachshund Cleo did, but it appears she is in good hands!

I laughed my glutes off when I saw this Beagle vs. Blower video remixed to Willow Smith‘s “Whip My Hair.”  I think there is no question that the Beagle blows Willow Smith out of the water on this one.  I know folks are gonna say, “Ah man, Willow Smith is cool and she’s just a kid, cut her a break. . ”

Well, all that might be true, but this Beagle is just as cute, if not cuter, and a lot more talented in my opinion.  What do you think?

It’s been a rich tradition on the InterWeb for folks to post those ridiculously adorable emails that people forward to your inbox of humans doing unspeakably humiliating things to their canine companions. . .

Well, we plan to keep up that tradition here at DoggyBloggy! but only in the hope that we can save even one poor little dog from the embarrassment and severe psychological damage that such abuse can heap on our innocent and long-suffering canine friends.
